  • Camp Courage Calgary Online Application

    Welcome! We are thrilled you are interested in applying for the first ever Camp Courage in Calgary! Camp Courage is a seven-day camp that empowers twenty four (24) young women to reach their potential through information, education and inspiration.  Sessions will offer basic skills and knowledge to help participants learn more about how to begin a career as a first responder, along with providing connections to current women police officers, firefighters and paramedics.

    The Camp will be held from Monday July 4th to Sunday July 10th and participants will be expected to attend the camp daily from 8 am to 5 pm.  Camp sessions on Monday July 4th and Tuesday July 5th will occur at Calgary Police Service Headquarters – Westwinds (5111 47 St NE).  Camp sessions from Wednesday July 6th to Sunday July 10th will occur at Calgary Fire Department Training Academy (5727 23 Ave SE). Campers will be expected to attend registration pick up gear on Sunday July 3rd at the Training Academy.

    You will need to complete the application process below in the time frame provided to be considered for the camp. The application consists of meeting the minimum criteria, completion of an application form and providing one personal or work reference. Participants will be selected based on the strength of their answers.

    YouthLink, the Calgary Police Service, Calgary Fire Department and Alberta Health Services value diversity and are dedicated to respect & inclusion. In this camp we will strive to have an inclusive selection process and camp.

    Please read this application form all the way to the very end. Make notes as you read so that you know which questions you will have to prepare to answer. Exit from the application form and prepare your answers. Access the form again and complete it, attaching one reference. If you want to add something to your application form once you have exited from it, you will have to enter everything all over again into a new application form.

    We appreciate your application and the time it takes to complete. As a reminder, twenty four (24) participants will be selected from the pool of applicants and you will be notified if you are among the 24 participants.  Good luck!

    Before you apply, check the qualifications below to ensure you qualify for the camp:

    1. At least 15 years of age but no more than 18 years of age on July 1, 2022;
    2. Identify as a girl/woman.
    3. Complete the online application form by midnight Sunday May 15, 2022, include one reference or deliver a paper copy to Calgary Police Services District 3 Office (4303 14 St NW Calgary, Alberta).
    4. Submit one personal or work reference along with this form. The reference could come from someone who knows you well and could speak to your abilities, Your teacher, employer, community group leader or sports team coach are good examples. We suggest you contact your reference and share the Camp values ( and explain to them what Camp Courage is about and why you want to attend. You must ask them for a letter of reference, collect it from them, and attach to your completed application before you submit.
