  • Welcome to the Halifax Camp Courage Application

    At Camp Courage, we, along with our dedicated partners, are committed to fostering an environment of diversity, respect, and inclusion. We strive to ensure that our selection process and the camp experience itself reflect these core values. Before you begin, we strongly recommend thoroughly reading the entire application form. To help you prepare, please draft your responses in a separate document before completing the application in one sitting. Once you exit the form, you will not be able to make edits, and a new application will need to be submitted if changes are necessary. Due to limited spots, we can only accept twenty-four (24) participants from the large pool of applicants. If you are not selected this time, we encourage you to apply again in the future. Good luck!

    Qualification Criteria

    Before you apply, please ensure you meet the following qualifications:
    1. Age Requirement: You must be at least 15 years old but no more than 19 years old as of the start date of camp.
    2. Eligibility: You should identify as a young woman or gender-diverse youth.
    3. Good Standing: You must be a citizen in good standing, as evidenced by your letters of reference.
    4. Community Commitment: You should be committed to implementing the actions described in your essay to improve someone else's life or the life within your community.
    5. Physical Fitness: An active lifestyle is important due to the strenuous nature of some camp activities.
    6. Attendance: You must commit to attending the entire camp each day.
    7. Preparation: You must commit to completing all Prep & Pep work the camp requires.
    8. Application Submission: Complete the online application form and submit two reference letters and proof of age by midnight on February 7, 2026
    9. New Participants Only: You must not have attended Camp Courage in the past to allow as many individuals as possible to benefit from this experience.
    Preference will be given to residents of Nova Scotia. Our selection process is thorough, unbiased, and conducted by a panel well-versed in our criteria. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

    Selection Process

    The selection panel will evaluate candidates based on the depth of their volunteer commitments and the completeness of their applications. All references will be checked, and personal interviews may be conducted to ensure fairness. The decision of the Selection Committee is final.

    Application Instructions

    To apply for Camp Courage, complete the following two steps by midnight on February 7, 2026:
    1. Fill out this online application form.
    2. Submit the following documents:
      • Proof of age (a photocopy of either your birth certificate or Driver's License)
      • Two letters of reference

Please ensure that your documents are received by the deadline. We will notify you when we receive your application and inform you of the outcome in the month of February.     This innovative camp operates on a unique premise: Instead of traditional tuition fees, participants are required to fulfill the promises articulated in their essays. The only limit to what you can pledge and accomplish is the boundary of your imagination.
